The Brand Research Group takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the materials science of civil infrastructure, with particular focus on micro- and nanostructure, advanced characterization techniques, reaction kinetics, and interfacial bonding. The primary research focus is on cement chemistry, concrete, and cementitious composites, but current and past research has also focused on geochemistry, corrosion, asphalt chemistry, polymer concrete, and non-destructive evaluation.
